DESCRIPTION:Beginning of the Year 12-Day Fast\nWednesday\, January 1 – Sunday\, January 12\, 2025\nWhat is Fasting?\nFasting is the voluntary abstinence from particular aspects of life in order to seek deeper dimensions of fellowship and blessing with God. \nExamples of fasting are throughout The Bible. Examples include: the absolute fast (no food) that Jesus and Moses observed in Matthew 4:2 and Exodus 34:28\, and the partial fasts (abstaining from pleasures and delicacies) that Daniel and John the Baptist observed in Daniel 1:8 and Matthew 3:4. Combining fasting with prayer invigorates the believer with new dimensions of divine power for living. \nWhy Fast?\nPersonal consecration\, which includes: \n\nPrayer for Direction\, Anointing\, Spiritual Growth\, Healing and Justice\nHumbling of the soul (Psalm 35: 13).\nSeeking the wisdom of God in a particular matter (Ezra 8:23\, 2 Samuel 12:16).\nExperiencing a spiritual breakthrough when we are faced with an impasse (Matthew 17:21\, Acts 13:2).\nAbstaining from the excesses of lifestyles and entertainment  (Daniel 6:18).\nFocus on the needs of others (Isaiah 58:6-9)\n\n\nFasting:  Enjoy plenty of vegetables and water. Refrain from all meats\, sweets/sugar products\, caffeine and carbonated beverages\, pastas and bread. If you have a medical condition or concerns\, please consult with your medical professional before proceeding with any food fast. Do not do anything to jeopardize your health. \nFaith:  Prioritize Scripture reading\, personal devotion\, worship\, and service to others. Attend all evening Consecration Services\, Sunday Worship\, and 6:30am weekday Prayer Calls. \nFitness:  Add 15 minutes of exercise each day. \nFamily & Friends:  Plan a dinner\, outing or fun activity with family and/or friends on the Saturdays during Consecration. \nFinances:  Refrain from the use of credit cards\, pay day loans and check cashing places.  For 21 days refrain from unnecessary expenses\, eating out\, or give up that daily Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Create a “Consecration Blessing” Jar/Box and place the money you save in it. \nAt the end of the 12 Days extend your generosity to a worthy cause (i.e. Cathedral Educare Scholarship Fund\, Cathedral Mercy House (provides food\, clothing\, baby items\, referral services)\, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (free services for children with cancer) Habitat for Humanity\, American Red Cross or any cause of your choosing).
